A flexibilização
Due to the accelerated populational growth, combined with technological
development, the search for energy resources becomes an increasing challenge.
Furthermore, it´s also important to highlight the need for renewable alternatives
that reduces the greenhouse gases emissions. As result, the continuous grow of
the renewable energies, especially wind power, it become a global interest.
Thus, this dissertation aims to show the development and implementation of this
technology, particularly in Brazil and Portugal, as well as to understand the
strategies and incentive mechanism used by both countries and how the two
countries fit into a global scenario. It is also important to understand the evolution
of this technology through the years and to show what will be the future
challenges.
A comparative study of wind energy in the two countries mentioned above is
exposed, explaining its relevance in the energy matrix, its presence in national
electricity grids, the incentives made by the two governments and the possible
next steps that each country should follow for the future of this technology.
In the end, it is possible to understand the similarities and differences, especially
in relation to the potential exploited in each and suggest what are the best
directions to follow in each one of the scenarios, based on the global evolution
of this technology.
It was also possible to see the similarity related to the government incentives, as
well as in the growth of this technology, emphasizing the fact that in Portugal,
because it started the great process of investment in this technology previously,
there is a considerable modernization, in new technologies, comparing to Brazil
and a better use of all their wind potential. The electrical market flexibility in
Portugal also plays an important role when comparing to the current Brazilian
market.
In addition, possible alternatives, and solutions, due to their intermittence
problem and the end of its useful life, are also exposed, which generates an
excessive amount of material that could potentially be reused or recycled.Mestrado em Sistemas Energéticos Sustentávei
